SENER obtains a Top-Level Domain11/05/2015 (International)
SENER is one of the 12 companies in Spain that has obtained a Top-Level Domain, with ‘.sener’. The international body ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which is in charge of global coordination of the Internet’s Unique Identifier, has just delegated SENER the usage license, adding it to the short list of Spanish companies with access to this type of domain. This means that SENER will now be able to use its corporate name as its domain name (.sener) to distinguish its websites, instead of a generic first level domain (.com) or a first level country domain (.es, .mx, .uk, etc.).
The .sener domain will provide the company with greater brand visibility and also release it from the geographic constraints of its offices, thus emphasizing the international character of the group, which has individual divisions providing a presence in 16 different countries. Moreover, by using this domain, SENER will now be able to create second level domains aligned with its strategic objectives, which will improve the company’s communications in the digital environment.
This new system will give SENER better positioning in search engine results and will bolster its digital security against trademark abuses, thereby strengthening the protection of its intellectual property. According to ICANN, the goal of this new system is to make the internet more accessible, safe and innovative.
The website with the .sener domain will be operational in three months, once it has passed the testing period for the new domain required by ICANN.
